Tilly = SOLD!!!

Tilly, as we named her, is on her way to Ohio. She left on Friday.
She is a 1979 Trillium 4500 Fiberglass RV.
I have to say I will miss her lots. We only camped in her a couple of times but it was very enjoyable every time. She was a very sound camper and will give her new owners many more good years.

Here she is with her new owner Marie.
Marie was very happy to have a new toy.

I now have to let Tilly go and move on.
She gave me some good memories and the funds to be able to work on the Sprite of which I am very grateful!
Let the resto commence!

Great Site

Today I found a great site for tips on restoring a Vintage Trailer.
I'll be gleaning from this one for sure.

Hope it'll help you too!

That Thing Was Heavy!!!

The heater in the Sprite that is...

I have been wanting to remove this for a while now. I don't believe it was original. Quite frankly the thing scared me to death!! I don't like using propane and when I'm finished with the Sprite there will be no propane used!! A stove wouldn't bother me but a heater is deadly in my mind.

Here is the gaping hole it left. I plan on putting a compartment there accessible from the outside so the hole isn't a problem. Just have to find one that is just the size I want. It needs to be just bigger than this hole. Shouldn't be hard to find something that will fit.

This looks real scary from the inside. Agree?!

We have been busy getting our Trillium 4500 ready to sell (leaving today) so we haven't been working on the Sprite too much.
Although, we are one step closer to being able to work outside because we just put up a portable shed type cover to work on the Sprite. It'll do just fine for what we need.

More progress will be posted soon...

Nevr-Dull

I'm tryin out this product called Nevr-Dull and I'm quite surprised!
(my can looks different then this one, I took this one from their site. Mine is black, white and silver, no blue.)

It works wonders with a bit of elbow grease added.

It really puts a shine on the aluminum window trim.

 I recommend it highly.

(I am in no way associated with this product cept by using it. Just sharing my experience.)

Melting...

The trip to Texas was great and we were so proud to see our boy graduate from AF Basic Training.
He is now training at Sheppard AFB in North TX.

Now back and able to work on the Sprite and can't because of this...

Ugh, way too hot to be outside!!

Maybe it will be more suitable weather next week. Hopefully!

Floor Plans

Had some time last night and since I can't do anything else on the trailer until the hubs gets back from a month long business trip, I drew up some plans for the Sprite.

These are rough plans but I'm sure it will come out pretty close.
3 squares = 1'

So sorry that I don't have the source to this photo but I'm leaning on these colors for our girl.

I LOVE MAXINE!!

Front Window And A Dime

Looking at this window  for the front of our Sprite.
We would have to redo the entire front wall but it looks like it's a must anyway.
This window doesn't open but I figure with the huge windows in the back and the Dutch door we won't need it to open. Plus there's a rock shield and that may be why they replaced the original window in the first place.

Do you think we could get it for this dime???
Haha I think not, it's quite expensive, and the shipping is half the price of the window itself. Ugh!!
If anyone knows where to get one like this at a better price, please let me know!

I found this dime while cleaning out the camper.
It was lodged in the side wall almost under the floor.
The date is the year our trailer was made. Coincidence??

Many Blessings to you!

Tear Down

Ripping everything out has been fun but I'm ready to be done!!!

Here are some dismantling photos.

There are a couple areas where I believe we will have to check out leaking issues like where the rear lights were botched and where they chopped the electric.but all-in-all there really aren't major issues.

The front wall, where they replaced the window with a jalousie window, is where our major reno will have to take place. I'll get more photos of that so if anyone has any suggestions we would love some help.

Also, I may want to put in an extra window in the kitchen area. We've worked with camper windows before and they're not all that hard to put in especially if we've got it all torn apart anyway.

Awning/Spare Room

Well, I've had time to post before I leave for TX.

Gonna take some time to figure out how all this goes together but that's for later on this summer. Here is the whole gamut. If anyone has any input as to how it all goes together, that would be great!!

The Privy part of the awning.

 All the canvas.

Hummm??? It's a mystery to me!

As We Found Her...

I had been looking for a Tiny Travel Trailer for a while. Searching Jaxed Mash everyday just about. I drove miles to see a few. None of them cried 'buy me'. Unitl.... we drove two hours (which turned into 6, story to come later) to see this one. She was solid, dry and the price was right.
It's a 1971 SPRITE 400 Caravan.

Before going, I searched on the internet to find out information because I've never heard of a Sprite before. Came to find out that they were made by a British company that in 1969 set up shop here in the US, then by 1972 they weren't making any money so they closed up and moved back to England. This was the only info I could find on the subject of these trailers before we left to go see her.

I loved the openness with the big windows. I also liked that she was somewhat gutted. We had planned on whatever we found, we would gut it first anyway.

She is actually smaller in length than our Homebuilt Teardrop trailer

The inside was so chopped up and had a lot to be desired. The outside had a lot to be desired only because of that #8. Ha, not a fan! Nascar yes, Earnhart NO! Plus the previous owner went and screwed flagpole brackets to the back of the trailer. What a waste!!

I also liked the logo.

The front window must have been broken so they pieced on a jalousie window... did a real bad job but it is sealed real good so we may just make it work.

I've been tearing her apart the last couple of days and she's already starting to look better. I will show you the 'spare room' photos as soon as I get them loaded. Not too sure how to put them together but it all looks pretty good to go. The pole system for the awning is ingenious!! The canvas is in rather great shape for being 40 years old too.
Stay tuned for our continuing progress.
We are headed down to TX for our son's AF Basic Training Graduation so it may be after then that I get to post.

Blessings to you and yours!
